We arrived in Barra Grande via Parnaíba, then took buggy or 4×4 transfers on sandy roads. The village offers charming inns, many beachfront, and comfortable lodging for all types of travelers. We chose a beachfront pousada to wake up with the ocean breeze.

Besides relaxing by the beach, we took kitesurfing lessons with experienced instructors. Nearby clear-water lagoons provide serene moments surrounded by nature. We also took a boat trip to Ilha das Canárias, snorkeling and spotting seahorses in warm waters.

We took the classic 4×4 tour to the Great Lençóis, stopping at Blue and Bonita Lagoons. In Atins, we explored thermal-water lagoons and toured mangroves. At sunset, the dunes turned golden, framing the horizon in unforgettable ways.
Barreirinhas, Atins, and Santo Amaro – which to choose?
Barreirinhas has solid tourist infrastructure and many tour options. Atins is quieter, perfect for relaxation and river windsurfing. Santo Amaro is more rustic but offers less explored landscapes. We chose to combine all three for different perspectives of the park.

How to get there and where to stay
We reached Jericoacoara via Fortaleza or Cruz, with transfers in 4×4 vehicles through dunes and sand. Our choice was an inn with a natural pool near Sunset Dune, where we watched the famous sunset over the sea.

We hiked or took a buggy to Paradise and Blue Lagoons, where we relaxed in hammocks inside the water and under palm trees. We climbed Sunset Dune to witness a vibrant sunset greeted with applause by all present.

Jeri surprised us with its laid-back atmosphere: beach bars play live music, caipirinhas flow freely, and forró heats up the nights. We took stand-up paddle classes at sunset and stargazed under a clear sky. The energy is youthful, welcoming, and truly authentic.
